As I mentioned last time we are a non profit youth theatre group with performers aged 3-21 years old, run by an amazing group of volunteers fondly known as Harrys Angels. As a non-profit trust we rely on fundraising to allow us to continue our work. And our fundraising is well underway for this year….
On Tuesday 1st October we started the month with our Curry Fundraising Evening in the Panshee, Swansea. A great night was had by all who attended with lovely food and good company, the conversations were flowing nicely! And £281.50 was raised for our Shrek fund.
Monday 7th October the winner of our Mini’s and Juniors Drawing Competition was announced in class as Evie Dickson and we managed to capture the announcement on video which can be seen on our blog. £57.00 was raised towards our Shrek Fund.
Wed 30th October was Harry’s Halloween Fundraising Party, where 41 mini’s and juniors joined us for a night of dancing, games, fancy dress competitions and lots of fun in Morriston Rugby Club. £294.50 was raised for our Shrek fund.
Thurs 31st October was of course Halloween and a group of minis, juniors and seniors took part in the Halloween Spooky Funday where they performed a range of songs in the Swansea Waterfront Museum. £70 was raised for our Shrek fund.
Shrek merchandise is also being created in Harry’s HQ with some amazing Shrek Beanie’s being created by Hugh’s very talented mum, and now available to purchase from the Angels at just £5 per beanie. And below we have the gorgeous Jiffy modelling our beanie. Jiffy belongs to one of our seniors Eryn Thomas. Thank you Jiffy!
The Adventures of Tommy The Teddy

This is what some of our previous members said about their time at Harry’s Youth Theatre…
“Harry’s has given me much more than just an opportunity to continue my passion for musical theatre – it has given me lifelong friends too! As an adult I am now a member of several societies in Swansea and Llanelli, but I don’t think any of this would have been possible without the opportunities I received at Harry’s. Without that initial confidence and direction I wouldn’t have thought about continuing performing as an adult, but Harry’s has opened the door to much more for me. During the day I am an English teacher who is passionate about the stage, and I have been fortunate enough to direct my own productions too, both in and outside of school. I’ve learnt so much from being in Harry’s – not just lyrics to musical theatre songs, but how much work and dedication is needed to pull together a production, from rehearsals to mic plotting to costume sourcing. I love that this group is still very much a part of Swansea’s theatre scene, and look forward to supporting each production that’s put on by the whole team.”
So as you can see a very fun packed month with lots of rehearsing going on as well! As always if you want to know anything please do get in touch, we love hearing from our supporters.
