Mon 23rd and Wed 25th Sept was audition nights for the upcoming show Shrek The Musical. Members sang, acted and tap-danced their way through auditions in front of our panel, Kathryn Wheel, Jonathan Lycett, Helen Stephens and Chris “Bomber” Barrett. They are eagerly awaiting the announcements of the cast and are already learning ensemble songs.
The Scenery has been booked and the photos look amazing! And after a little bit of arm-twisting from Angel Sharon she has allowed me to upload them onto the website so you can have a sneak peak at what’s to come! We are a non profit youth theatre group with performers aged 3-21 years old, run by an amazing group of volunteers fondly known as Harrys Angels. As a non-profit trust we rely on fundraising to allow us to continue our work. And our fundraising is well underway for this year….
Friday 20th September was Harry’s First Fundraiser Party, organised by 3 of the senior members of Harry’s Hollie Jones, Byddia Lewis and Jess Lynn. The party was arranged to raise funds for our coming show Shrek The Musical taking place in 13-15 February 2020. Every member of Harry’s was invited plus family and friends. The party raised a very impressive £1021.00 and was judged a huge success by all who attended. For more information and photos please click here to read our Blog Post
In our last variety show Curtain Call, Tommy The Teddy was raffled and the winner Elaine Cherrington named him after her dad. He has became the group’s mascot.
Tommy gets awarded to a different child each week to take home. The children are encouraged to take Tommy with them to some exciting places – maybe dance class or cubs or the park – and to share photos of their adventures together. Tommy has been awarded to Nancy , Lilwenna and Willow so far and has had a smashing time with photos in Penllergaer Woods and a Joe’s Icecream to follow! Lucky Teddy
On Saturday 14th September Harry’s Youth Theatre were invited to perform at St Peter’s Church in Cockett, Swansea.
Rev’d Dr Jonathon Wright and his parishioners were joined by family and friends of Harry’s to enjoy another amazing evening of musical theatre. Proceeds were split between Harry’s Youth Theatre to go towards Shrek The Musical and St Peters Church who are having restoration work on their church.
As a non-profit trust we rely on fundraising to allow us to continue our work. If you are able to help us in any way, we will be very grateful. We have a number of ways you can do just that, all you need to do is click on the link below to go to our Fundraising page
This is what some of our previous members said about their time at Harry’s Youth Theatre…
“I joined Harry ‘s in 2002 when they first opened their doors. I was very inexperienced and didn’t know what to expect but was put at ease straight away by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. In my time at Harry ‘s I took part in several shows and grew in confidence and ability over the years due to the fantastic guidance of the teaching staff. Without which I would never have been able to gain a placement at the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and pursue a career in theatre. Harry ‘s made learning fun and I made friends for life while I was there. I am truly grateful for the support given during my time with Harry’s and for the all the fond memories!”
